Purpose

Located on the Work Order Types list page, the New Work Order Type function allows users to efficiently create and customize new work order types to suit their specific operational needs.

What can you do with it?

The New Work Order Type feature is designed to give you the flexibility to define and configure how different types of work orders function within your organization. From naming the order to setting parameters for processing loss, users can tailor work order types to optimize workflow and enhance productivity.

How is it done?

  1. Start by Naming Your Work Order Type Enter a unique name for your new work order type in the text field provided.

  2. Plant Management Options

    • Archive remaining plants when closed: Check if you want to automatically archive plants when the work order is completed.

  3. Processing Loss Management

    • Show Processing Loss: Enable tracking of processing losses.

    • Processing Loss Inventory Products: Select which inventory products to consider in processing loss calculations.

    • Add Processing Loss Warning: Specify upper and lower bound thresholds to prompt a warning when processing loss exceeds these values.

  4. Form Defaults and Output Behavior

    • Inputs default to Use Remaining and Outputs default to Work Order Location to streamline data entry.

    • Outputs +1 default to Use Existing Inventory: Use this option if you want outputs to link with existing inventory, otherwise, they will create new entries.

  5. Equipment and Record Management Post-Closure

    • Configure permissions to add or remove equipment and records both post-close and post-lock of the work order.

  6. Lot and Destruction Management

    • Enable the Require Lot option to ensure a lot is assigned for destruction events.

    • Configure plant inputs, outputs, and destruction capabilities.

  7. Printer and Record Setup

    • Choose a Default Printer Job Template for work order outputs.

    • Specify any Related and Required Records and Equipment linked to this work order type.

  8. Inventory and Location Management

    • Define Allowed Inventory Categories and Products for inputs, outputs, and destruction events.

    • Set the Default Work Order Location and choose whether the user can modify it during processing.

Important Considerations

  • Always verify threshold values for processing loss before finalizing a work order type to ensure accurate warnings and controls.

  • Review and confirm equipment and record permissions to avoid post-process disruptions.

  • Ensure the default location settings align with logistics planning to prevent workflow hiccups.
