How to Reweigh or Edit Destruction Events in a Destruction Lot

This guide walks you through how to reweight or edit destruction events, as well as how to manage destruction lot closing dates accurately.

Written by T Campbell

🔁 Reweigh a Destruction Event

Use the Reweigh function when you need to record a new weight for a destruction event without modifying the original value. This is helpful when the destruction occurs on a different date than when the waste was initially weighed — for example, foliage or general waste.

To reweigh a destruction event:

  1. Go to the relevant Destruction Lot.

  2. Find the destruction event that needs to be reweighed.

  3. Click Reweigh.

  4. Enter the new weight.

  5. Click Submit.

✅ The original weight remains recorded, and the reweigh is logged as a new entry.

✏️ Edit a Destruction Event

The Edit function allows you to change the original weight of a destruction event. This should be used sparingly, as it directly affects your reporting (including CTLS/B300).

Who can edit:

  • By default, only Admins have permission to edit destruction events.

  • If other team members need this access, adjust permissions in their user roles.

To edit a destruction event:

  1. Open the relevant Destruction Lot.

  2. Locate the event you want to update.

  3. Click Edit.

  4. Update the weight.

  5. Click Update.

⚠️ Be cautious when using this option — edited values replace the original and will reflect in reports.

📅 Destruction Lot Closing Date

The closing date of a destruction lot should match the actual date of destruction at your facility.

  • Closing a destruction lot confirms the waste has been destroyed.

  • After closing, you can add witness statements by clicking Witness Destruction to maintain a complete record.
