New Status in Statuses List

Enhance operational clarity with tailored status settings.

Written by T Campbell

Purpose

Within the Statuses List page, the New Status feature empowers users to effectively add and customize a new status.

What can you do with it?

With the New Status feature, you can define specific statuses that reflect your operation's unique workflow needs. This tool allows users to seamlessly introduce new statuses, ensuring their processes are accurately represented and managed.

How is it done?

  1. Navigate to the Statuses List Page

  2. Find Statuses in the Inventory section of the navigation, below Inventory Categories.

  3. Create a New Status

  4. Click on the New Status button to initiate the creation process.

  5. Enter Status Details

  6. In the Name field, input a clear and descriptive name for your status.

  7. Select a Status Type that best fits the context of your operation:

    • Batch

    • Inventory

    • Lot

    • Purchase Order

    • Vendor

    • Work Order

    • Define Blocking Behaviour

  8. For Batch, Inventory and Lot statuses the option is labelled Block All, shown alongside Allow All and three read-only allow settings. For the other types it appears as Is Blocking. Either way, it determines whether the status halts progress until resolved.

  9. Review and Save

  10. Double-check all entered details for accuracy.

  11. Click Save to apply the new status and update the Statuses List.

Important Considerations

  • Statuses now lives under Inventory. It was previously found in the Quality section — and access now follows your inventory licence, so a facility without one won't see this page.

  • New record statuses are created on their own page. The Record type is no longer offered here — record statuses are created on the Record Statuses page in the Quality section. Existing record statuses still appear in this list, and the Status Type filter doesn't offer Record, so they can't be filtered out. What is split is where each kind is created, not what this list shows.

  • Creating a status requires the Statuses — Add permission.

  • Ensure the Name is distinctive to avoid confusion with existing statuses.

  • Choosing the correct Status Type reflects where the status will be applicable and impacts operational efficiency.

  • Designating a status as blocking can prevent tasks from moving forward until certain conditions are met, ensuring critical stages are addressed.

Best Practices

  • Regularly review and update statuses to align with changing operational needs.

  • Use precise and descriptive names for easy identification in future references.

  • Consider the broader impact of blocking statuses to maintain a smooth workflow across your operation.
