Output Quantity in Work Orders List

See how much each work order produced without opening it.

Written by Allan Harding

Purpose

The Work Orders List page shows an Output Quantity column, so you can see how much each work order produced at a glance rather than opening each one in turn.

What can you do with it?

Output Quantity lets you scan production volumes straight from the list. It is useful when you are reviewing a day's or a week's work, comparing runs of the same type, or looking for work orders that closed without recording any output.

How is it done?

  1. Navigate to the Work Orders List page.

  2. Find the Output Quantity column, which sits between the work order name and Type.

  3. Read the value against each work order. Each figure is shown with its unit of measure, for example 5000 G.

  4. Open the work order itself if you need to see the individual outputs behind the total.

Important Considerations

  • An empty cell means no outputs have been recorded, not that the quantity is zero. A work order that is still open, or one that closed without any outputs, shows a blank cell rather than a 0.

  • The figure is a total of what is recorded in the work order's Outputs section. Anything missing or mis-keyed there will show up in this column.

  • The column reflects output only. Inputs, processing loss and destroyed material are not part of this figure.

Best Practices

  • Use a blank cell as a prompt to check. On a closed work order it usually means outputs were never recorded.

  • Open the work order to investigate a figure that looks wrong, rather than reading anything into the list value on its own.

  • Combine the column with the status filters to review, say, all closed work orders of one type and confirm each recorded what you expected.
