Downloads

Track and collect your PDF exports from anywhere in the app.

Written by Allan Harding

Purpose

The Downloads panel in the header keeps a running list of the PDFs you have generated, shows their progress as they render, and lets you collect the finished file from anywhere in Elevated Signals.

What can you do with it?

Large PDFs — a full batch record, a comprehensive inventory report — take time to render. Previously that meant staying on the page that started the job and waiting for it to finish.

Now you can start an export and carry on working. The list is held against your account rather than the page, so you can move around Elevated Signals, or reload your browser entirely, and your file will still be waiting for you when you come back.

How is it done?

  1. Generate a PDF as you normally would, from wherever you would usually start it — a batch, a report, a work order.

  2. Click the Downloads icon in the header toolbar to open the panel. It is the leftmost of the five icons, to the left of the print and notification icons.

  3. Watch the state on each row. A job that is still rendering shows a spinner and reads Generating..., and a job that has finished reads Ready to download.

  4. Click the download button on any row that is ready, to save the file to your computer.

  5. Click the on a row to dismiss it once you are done with it.

Important Considerations

  • While anything is rendering, the Downloads icon carries a red badge showing how many jobs are in progress, and the panel header reads N generating... on the right. When nothing is rendering, the number on the right is simply how many files are in the list.

  • You can queue several exports at once. Each one appears as its own row and finishes independently of the others.

  • Dismissed downloads stay dismissed. Once you clear a row it will not reappear the next time you open the panel.

  • Dismissing a row does not delete a file you have already saved to your computer. It only removes the row from this list.

  • The panel lists recent jobs, not a permanent archive. Collect the files you need rather than treating this as long-term storage.

  • An empty panel reads No recent downloads, with the note that PDFs you generate will appear there.

Best Practices

  • Start long exports and move on. The whole point is that you no longer have to sit and wait on the page.

  • Dismiss jobs once you have saved the file, so the list stays short and useful.

  • If a large export is slow, narrow the date range or filters before running it again — a smaller report renders faster and is easier to check.
