The Harvest Update: less scrolling, more growing

Hey everyone! Harvest season is here, and so is a fresh crop of updates. September was mostly about making things faster, tidier and more honest about what's going on. Long tables now fold up. A search for 244 finds 244. Vendors can hold every licence they actually have. Dates stop living in the wrong time zone.

A handful of changes touch exports, labels, reports and defaults, so we've put those first, before the fun stuff. If you've validated it, trained people on it or built a spreadsheet around it, give the table below a careful read.

First things first: what changes for you

Okay, the homework's done. On to the good stuff.

Less Scrolling, More Growing: Collapsible Rows

You know the feeling. You open a record, and there's a repeatable table forty rows deep with every row wide open, and the one you need is at the very bottom. Again.

Long repeatable sections can now be collapsed one row at a time or all at once, with a short read-only summary for each collapsed row. Collapsed rows keep calculating in the background, so durations, totals and other derived values stay accurate. When you open a form with more than one row, completed rows start collapsed (rows with errors stay open), so expand them or use Expand all to review every field. Learn more →

Work Orders Remember Your Expand All Choice

The Expand all toggle on a work order now remembers your last choice, on any browser, the next time you open a work order. It has a better memory than most of us before coffee. Each person's choice is their own, so it doesn't change anyone else's view.

Type 244, Get 244

Searching for batch 244 used to also turn up 2440012, 12440 and roughly half the building. Now a number search matches the whole ID. When you do want everything that starts with 244, type #244. Search terms with special characters work properly, the search box on the Custom Label Templates list now filters results, and dropdown pickers no longer jump to an option while you're still typing. If your team finds records by typing part of an ID, show them the #.

Licences, Plural

A vendor's licence used to live in a single text box, which was really a sticky note with extra steps. Now a vendor can hold every regulatory licence they actually have, each with its own number, issuing authority and expiry date. You add and edit them on the vendor record, and the vendor detail page flags any licence that has lapsed.

A new setting under Purchase & Shipping Order Settings decides what happens when you receive from or ship to a vendor whose licences have all expired: nothing, a warning, or a block. It's off by default, and existing licences have no expiry date until you enter one. Add expiry dates before you rely on the warning or the block. Bulk CSV import doesn't support licences yet, so add them on the vendor record. If you create or update vendors through the API, the old single licence field is now ignored without an error, so send licences in the new multi-licence format. Learn more →

Location, Location, Location

Each work order type can now decide how the work order's own location is handled: optional, required before the work order can close, pinned to a default, or not recorded at all. You can also limit which kinds of location appear in the picker, so operators only see sensible choices. Every existing work order type has been set to Optional. Types that used to show a locked, empty location field now let you pick one, so set a type to No location if you want to keep it location-free. Learn more →

Which Version of the Recipe? Now You Know

Work orders now show which version of a bill of materials they follow. When a bill of materials can't be released, versioned, archived or have a line deleted, the message now explains why instead of shrugging at you with a generic error.

Sign Here, Please: E-Signatures on Lock and Unlock

Facilities running in GMP mode are now asked to re-enter their password before locking or unlocking a work order, so those changes are signed the same way as closing, verifying and reopening. Deleting a work order input or output now asks for a reason, which is stored with the record and required in GMP mode. In GMP mode, the reason on an output edit can no longer be left blank or filled with spaces. A mistyped password now shows an error instead of freezing the form or signing you out.

Your View, Your Rules

Anyone who can view a table can now save, create and delete their own views of it. Previously this needed facility-editing permission, so some people with full reporting access hit a permission error just for tidying up a layout. Saved views stay private to the person who created them.

Dates That Know Where You Live

Custom-field dates, QA-clearance stamps on batch PDFs and the purchased and shipped inventory exports now follow your facility's time zone instead of the server's or your browser's. This fixes dates showing as the previous day, most often for facilities ahead of UTC. Our friends in Australia and New Zealand no longer have to live in yesterday.

If you import those two exports elsewhere, note that the date column is now in facility local time (yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss). Generated PDFs now print the facility name and time zone in the footer, and a facility date-format setting the dashboard doesn't recognise now falls back to the default format instead of breaking date display. Check that your facility's time zone is set in Facility Settings. Learn more →

No Time Travel, Please: Date Rules That Explain Themselves

When a lot or batch move is refused for being backdated too far, the message now names the date it was compared against, so you know what to change. A refused closing date now names the event it has to follow. Inventory and lot moves can no longer be dated in the future. However tempting it is, tomorrow's inventory stays in tomorrow.

Don't Leaf Yet: Plants Stay in Inventory Until They Ship

At facilities that don't track plants as inventory items, allocating plants to a shipping order used to take them out of inventory straight away, even though they were still sitting right there on site. Allocated plants now stay in inventory until they ship, and batch plant counts drop at shipment. While allocated, plants can't be moved to another growth stage, destroyed or added to another work order. Allocated plants must now be shipped in full, and a batch with plants allocated to a shipping order can't be closed until they ship. Learn more →

Growing Pains, Fixed: Growth Stage Advancement

At every facility, enthusiastic double-clicks no longer create duplicate work orders, and advancing plants that are already at the target stage is refused with a clear message instead of creating a duplicate work order. At facilities that track plants as inventory items, advancing a batch that holds several growth stages at once now works instead of being refused, and undoing an advancement only reverses what that advancement actually changed. Reports Now Say What Actually Went Wrong

Live-view reports used to show "No data available for the selected criteria" whenever anything went wrong, which looked exactly like a report with nothing in it. They now tell an empty result apart from a genuine failure, and say which one happened. A report that's too large to return says so clearly, and a failed load no longer leaves the page looking finished. Learn more →

Plant and Batch Report Corrections

At facilities that don't track plants as inventory items, the Comprehensive Plant Report no longer adds a "Work Order – Input" row for shipping orders, including for past periods. Shipments show the buyer, and a shipment drawn from several purchase orders is now a single row. The Batch Status History report now shows the status as it was at each change, rather than the batch's current status. The initial cultivar in the Comprehensive and Opening Inventory reports is now the same every time you run them.

Label All the Things (Reliably)

Batch label printing on network printers no longer stops after the first label because of an early transfer timeout. Giraffe now waits for the full job transfer and the printer connection to close before marking the job complete. This fix requires Giraffe 0.34.6 or later on your printing PC. Labels for a record whose custom-field data was empty now print blanks instead of "NO MATCH", and a recorded false or 0 prints as recorded. Learn more →

Lists, Now in Fast Mode

The Lots and Inventory lists, and the Lots and Inventory tabs on SKU, product and status pages, now load faster and no longer time out at large facilities. On a SKU's Lots tab, each lot's total now counts only that SKU's inventory.

Fewer Surprise Sign-outs

Leaving a tab idle no longer signs you out in the background. When your session does time out, you now see the usual "session expired" prompt instead of a surprise. The in-app support chat also loads reliably now, so we're easier to reach when you need us.

Fewer Empty Lots

Recording a processing loss on a work order no longer creates a throwaway lot for each loss line. New purchase-order lines no longer pre-fill the receive form with a system-generated lot. Lines created before the update may still show their existing placeholder. Less clutter, fewer "wait, what's this lot?" moments. Learn more →

ID First, Name Second: Purchase and Shipping Order Lists

Purchase and shipping order list rows now show the order's #ID followed by its name, so a long order name can't push the ID out of sight, and the #ID no longer gets cut off on the order page. Plant reports now take the shipment vendor from the shipping order itself, so the report matches the movement it describes.

Show Archived on More Lists

The Custom Label Templates and Batch Types lists now have a Show Archived toggle, matching the other lists in the platform. Bask in its glory.

Tighter Role Management for Admins

Facility admins can now assign a role only when they already hold every permission it grants, and can add only permissions they hold to a role. Existing users and roles are unchanged.

Now Speaking Your Language (All Four of Them)

Error messages that used to show up as raw codes now display proper text in English, Spanish, French and Ukrainian, and the Ukrainian interface now uses one consistent word for "location" everywhere.

Custom Fields on Inventory Categories

Inventory categories can now carry their own custom fields, so product-level properties no longer have to be duplicated onto every product. An item picks up the fields from its product plus every category it belongs to — including parent categories — and those values flow through to work-order outputs, purchase-order receipts, and inventory reports. Moving a product between categories never deletes values; it only changes which fields are shown. Archiving a category now safely retains its field definitions rather than discarding them. In report exports, two custom fields that share a title now each get their own column instead of one quietly overwriting the other.

Consistent Dates on Records, Labels, and Exports

A date you enter now reads the same everywhere it appears — production records, purchase and shipping order PDFs, work-order documents, labels, exports, and the dashboard — instead of shifting by hours or a day depending on where it was viewed. Date-only fields no longer invent a time of day. Two things change as a result: date columns in report exports use the new consistent format, and labels that include a date-and-time field will now print the time.

Email Delivery for Long Reports

The Destructions (Plants) report no longer gives up on long date ranges. Choose the email option when you run it and the CSV arrives once it has finished, instead of the page timing out while you wait. Emailed reports of any size now arrive as a secure download link rather than a file attachment, so large ones are no longer silently dropped on the way — the link stays valid for three hours, so download it when it lands rather than saving the email for later. In the new reports view, the Comprehensive Inventory report now offers the same email option.

Live Reports Stay Where You Put Them

In the new reports view, switching to another browser tab and back no longer resets a report. Your expanded groups stay expanded and the report no longer reloads itself the moment it regains focus, so you can cross-reference something in another tab without losing your place. A report set to run as of "now" also reads the clock fresh each time you run it, so a tab left open overnight no longer reports yesterday's totals.

Lot Numbers and Weights in the Trace Inventory Report

The Trace Inventory Report now shows lot numbers alongside weights on work-order and purchase-order steps, so you can follow material by lot without cross-referencing another screen. Opening a lot also shows the full weight originally received or produced, plus a direct link to run a trace on that lot.

Status Reasons Are Now Visible

When someone sets a status and records a reason for it, that reason now appears alongside the status instead of being captured and hidden. This works across purchase orders, work orders, records, inventory, lots, batches and vendors — so the context behind a status change is visible to the next person who opens the record, without running a report to find it.

Return Quantity Pre-Filled

Returning inventory now starts with the received quantity already filled in and the field focused, rather than blank. Inventory stays correctly held while it is offsite, so returns and irradiation runs can't be double-counted or over-allocated.

Required Table Rows Are Added For You

Tables in forms that require a minimum number of rows now start with those rows already present, and if a table still needs more, the message tells you plainly how many. Previously the requirement was enforced silently and you had to work out what was missing.

Change a Display Unit Without Being Blocked

Updating a product's display unit in the Customize Units dialog no longer fails with a "cannot update equivalent units" error when no conversion values have been touched. The previous workaround of editing the unit through the product form is no longer needed. See Customize Inventory Units in Inventory Product Detail.

Duplicating a Destruction Event Keeps Its Units and Names

Using the "+1" duplicate action on a work-order destruction event now carries over the unit each quantity was recorded in and shows it clearly, so a copied quantity can't be misread in the wrong unit. Duplicated and pre-filled dropdowns also show the item's name instead of an internal reference number.

Filter Placeholders Are Back

Dropdowns in the More Filters panel show their guidance text again — "Select growth stages…", "Select locations…" — rather than appearing blank. This affects the filter panel on every list page.

Label Printers Work Straight After Installation

After a fresh install of the Windows print service, printers now start picking up jobs on their own. Previously the service could sit silently until someone restarted it. Facilities need the updated print service build to get this. See Giraffe Print Service for Windows.

Search and Navigation Fixes

Two fixes worth noting: searching on list pages now works with terms containing spaces and special characters, which were previously being mangled before the search ran; and locked items in the new navigation show their labels again instead of appearing as blank rows.

Correct Lot on the Purchased Inventory Report

Received rows on the Purchased Inventory report now show the lot the stock was actually received into, rather than the lot named on the original purchase order line. Reconciling receipts against physical stock no longer requires a manual correction.

PDF Download Manager

Generating a PDF no longer ties you to the page you started on. A new download manager in the header keeps a running list of your export jobs, shows progress as they render, and lets you grab the finished file from anywhere in the app — so you can kick off a batch record or report and keep working. Dismissed downloads now stay dismissed. See Downloads for the full walkthrough.

Bill of Materials Bulk Import & Export

You can now export your bills of materials and re-import them in bulk, making it far faster to build out or update many BOMs at once instead of editing them one at a time. Ideal for initial setup and large recipe changes. See Bulk Actions in Bill of Materials List for the full walkthrough.

Statuses Split into Two Pages

Statuses have moved out of Quality and now live under Inventory. Record statuses are now created on their own dedicated Record Statuses page, which stays in Quality and shows only record statuses. See New Status in Statuses List and New Record Status in Record Statuses List.

Work Order Quality-of-Life Upgrades

Two small but welcome improvements to work orders: deleting a work order now asks for confirmation so you can't remove one by accident, and the notification recipient picker is now searchable. See Manage Alert Subscribers in Work Order Types List for how subscriptions work.

Grow Stage Timing in the Unit You Choose

A new facility setting controls the time unit used for grow stage timing, so growth stage durations on batch details appear in the unit that suits your process.

Output Quantity on the Work Order List

The main Work Order list now shows each work order's output quantity at a glance, so you can scan production volumes without opening every work order. See Output Quantity in Work Orders List for the full walkthrough.

More Accurate Available Quantities on Lots

The available quantity shown on a lot now excludes archived and stranded or pending inventory, and no longer counts negative-balance buckets. What you see on the lot is what you can actually draw from.

More Accurate Location Totals

The Locations view now reports batch counts and inventory quantities correctly, so what you see on a location matches what's actually there.

Reports & PDF Exports: More Accurate, More Reliable

A batch of fixes to reports and PDF exports: batch record and other PDFs render with correct styling again, large exports download reliably, and batch-record PDFs gain an option to exclude location records. Destruction records now show the correct plant counts, comprehensive plant reports no longer list the same shipping record twice, shipping-order PDFs total only what was actually shipped, and plants are correctly excluded from processing reports and work-order loss calculations.

Custom Fields Kept When Receiving a Purchase Order

Switching to "Create New Inventory" while receiving a purchase order no longer discards custom-field values you've already entered.

Custom Print Label Fixes

Custom print labels now number purchase-order line items correctly when printing all lines at once, and outgoing shipping-order labels use the right measurement order.

Batch Move No Longer Duplicates Outputs

Changing a batch's location during a move no longer risks creating duplicate outputs, keeping your inventory counts accurate.

Records Appear Instantly After Creation

Records created from a detail-page tab now show up right away — no page refresh needed.

Related Items Tabs Show the Right Records

Related-items tabs on detail pages no longer show rows belonging to a different record.

Case Labels Open Inline in Audit History

Case label documents now open directly in the audit history view instead of forcing a download.

Navigation Improvements

Two fixes to the new navigation: you can star items again to pin them to your favourites, and cmd/ctrl+click on a nav item now opens it in a new tab, as you'd expect.

Smoother, Flicker-Free Lists

Lists and tables now hold a consistent order instead of shuffling as they load, so items like shipping-order line items stay put.

Interface Polish

Long option labels in dropdowns are no longer cut off, the work-order "Add" buttons no longer jump around on hover, and icon-only buttons now describe themselves on hover.

A Round of Stability & Reliability Fixes

We squashed a set of issues that could cause forms and record pages to freeze, crash, or misbehave — including a form-refresh loop, custom-field display errors, math and number field calculations, and detail pages that could break when a single piece of data failed to load. Things should feel steadier across the board.

Elevated Signals MCP Server

You can now connect AI assistants like Claude directly to your Elevated Signals data through the new MCP server. This read-only connection lets your team ask questions and retrieve batch, inventory, record, and work order details in natural language. See our Help Center guide to get started.

Multiple Approved Suppliers per SKU

SKUs can now be linked to more than one approved supplier. You can raise a purchase order against any supplier on a SKU's allow-list, instead of being locked to a single vendor, while existing single-supplier SKUs behave exactly as before.

"Up to Harvest" Filter on Batch Records PDF

Batch Records PDFs can now be generated up to a harvest cutoff, making it easier to produce records for a specific point in a batch's life.

Hide IP Addresses on PDF Signature Blocks

A new facility option lets teams hide IP addresses from signature blocks on exported PDFs, giving more control over what appears on official records.

SKU-Level Default Release Status

A SKU can now carry a default inventory status — such as Awaiting Release — that's applied automatically to outputs and receipts. Work orders also make it clearer which output products are awaiting release, reducing the risk of shipping product before it's cleared.

SKU Column on the Shipped Inventory Report

The Shipped Inventory report now includes a SKU column, making it easier to reconcile shipments against sales orders and external accounting systems.

Label Template Additions in EZ Builder

Label templates now support new custom fields — the user who printed the label, total-with-unit values, and a parent prefix — along with a set of EZ Builder usability improvements.

Written-Month Date Format in Forms

Read-only date and time fields in forms can now display a written-out month, improving clarity and reducing ambiguity across date formats.

Back to Top on Work Orders

Work orders with long output lists now include a "Back to top" button for quick navigation, so you no longer have to scroll manually.

Edit Inputs and Outputs on Planned Work Orders

Inputs and outputs can now be removed from Work Orders in the Planned state, so teams can adjust a work order before it starts without workarounds.

SKUs on Purchase Order PDFs

Purchase Order PDFs now show SKU details for items that haven't been received yet, giving clearer documentation earlier in the ordering process.

Clearer Growth Stage on Batch Details

The batch detail page now shows the growth stage name instead of an internal ID, making batch records easier to read.

Work Order History Sorted by Time

Work Order history now displays in chronological order, making it easier to follow the sequence of events on a work order.

Purchase Orders for Facility Vendors

You can now add inventory to a purchase order raised against a facility (non-customer) vendor, without having to pre-link each product to that vendor.

Scanned Items No Longer Lost on Outside Click

Clicking outside the scanning popup no longer discards scanned items, preventing lost work during high-volume scanning.

Inventory Names Preserved on Add

User-typed inventory names are now preserved when adding inventory to lots or locations, so entries are no longer overwritten.

"Show Active" Inventory Filter Fixed

The "Show active" filter on the inventory page no longer includes zeroed-out inventory, and the active, zeroed, and pending filters now apply reliably across paginated results.

SKU Bulk Actions Fixed

Bulk actions on the SKU page now work as expected.

No More Unsolicited "Report Ready" Emails

Downloading a record PDF no longer sends an automatic "your report is ready" email. That email now only sends when you explicitly choose to email the PDF.

More Accurate Plant Reports

Plant reports now count plant births correctly, and the Comprehensive Plant Report no longer over-counts closing inventory — destroyed plants are netted out.

Destruction Lot Report Weight Totals

Destruction lot PDFs now total initial weights correctly, so the report total matches the sum of the individual batch destruction events.

Safeguard Against Negative Inventory

Backdated inventory consumption is now guarded against creating negative balances, protecting inventory accuracy when historical entries are made.

Manage Your Own API Tokens

You can now create and manage personal access tokens for the Elevated Signals API directly in the app. Generate, name, and revoke tokens yourself, making it easier to set up and maintain integrations securely without contacting support.

Where to find it: Open your profile and click the Manage API tokens button. If you log in at dashboard.elevatedsignals.com, you can go straight to your API tokens page. On a custom subdomain, use the same /dashboard/profile/api-tokens path on your own login URL.

Separate Permission for Deleting Work Orders

Deleting a work order is now controlled by its own permission, separate from editing. Administrators can let team members edit work orders without granting the ability to delete them, giving you finer-grained control over who can remove records.

Roll-Up Totals on Lot Detail

The Lot detail view now rolls up its related batches, cultivars, products, and total quantities in one place, making it easier to understand everything contained in a lot at a glance.

More Detail on Batches in a Location

The Batches view within a Location now shows plant count, created date, and lot names, giving you more context about what's in each location without drilling into individual records.

Redesigned Custom Fields & SKU Detail Page

Custom fields have a refreshed, cleaner design, and the SKU detail page has been reorganized to make creating and editing custom fields more intuitive.

Facility-Level Processing-Loss Filter

Reporting now includes a facility-level processing-loss filter, giving you more precise control over how processing loss is represented in your reports.

Require a Reason When Reopening Non-GMP Work Orders

Facilities can now require a reason when reopening a non-GMP work order, helping maintain clearer audit trails and accountability.

SKUs on PDF Inventory Reports

PDF inventory reports now include SKU information, making it easier to match report line items to the correct products.

Print Jobs Tab Improvements

The Print Jobs tab on the printer detail page has been polished for easier monitoring and management of label print jobs.

Archived Inventory Excluded from the Lot Ledger

Archived inventories are no longer shown in the lot inventory ledger, so it reflects only active inventory and is easier to reconcile.

New Sidebar Navigation

Elevated Signals now includes a redesigned sidebar navigation, available as an opt-in preview. The new sidebar features a data-driven layout organized by the most-used pages, collapsible sections, a favorites system for pinning frequently visited pages, and light/dark/system theme support. Users can try the new navigation from an opt-in banner and switch back to the classic sidebar at any time.

​Granular Status Blocking Controls

Inventory statuses now support granular blocking controls, giving teams more precise control over which operations are allowed for a given status — including work order inputs, shipping allocations, and destruction. Status badges throughout the platform now reflect these settings with contrast-aware color indicators, making it easier to understand record state at a glance.

​Multi-Allocation for Shipping Orders

Outgoing inventory on Purchase Orders can now be allocated to a Shipping Order in bulk. Teams can select multiple inventory items at once and allocate them in a single action, reducing the steps required for high-volume shipment preparation.

​Inventory Sub-Categories

Inventory Categories now support sub-categories, which can be created and managed directly from the category detail page. Sub-categories are visually distinguished on the categories list with clear parent and sub-category tags, making it easier to organize and navigate complex category structures.

​Sort Options for Work Orders

The Work Orders list now includes a Sort By option, allowing teams to sort by created date, opened date, or closed date in either direction. This makes it easier to find relevant work orders when working with large volumes of records.

​Exclude Empty Inventories from Lot Label Printing

When printing labels for all inventory in a lot, a new "Exclude empty inventories" checkbox is now available. This is checked by default, so zero-quantity inventories are skipped automatically. Unchecking it restores the previous behavior of printing labels for all inventories regardless of quantity.

​Smarter Export Filenames for PDFs and CSVs

PDF and CSV export filenames now reflect the facility's configured date format and include the work order's display name where applicable. This ensures downloaded files match your facility's date order, locale, and timezone settings, and makes exports easier to identify without having to open them.

Scannable Data Selects

Data-select fields can now support scanning, making it faster to look up and select inventory, plants, and other records in supported workflows. This helps reduce manual entry and speeds up scanning-based processes throughout the platform.

​Clearer "Not Found" Error Handling

When opening a record or page that no longer exists, Elevated Signals now shows a clearer error message instead of leaving users on a loading state. This makes troubleshooting easier and improves the experience when working with deleted or invalid links.

​Email Delivery for Comprehensive Plant Reports

Comprehensive Plant Reports can now be emailed directly from the report workflow. This gives teams more flexibility when sharing large reports and reduces the need to download and forward files manually.

Table Selection for Work Order Inputs

Work Orders now support adding multiple inputs through an improved selection workflow. Teams can search, sort, filter, and select inventory more efficiently, making it easier to add the right materials in fewer steps.

Bill of Materials activity in Work Orders is now easier to review. Elevated Signals now provides better visibility into BOM summaries and related line items, helping teams compare expected and actual quantities more clearly.

​Bulk Inventory Moves

You can now move multiple inventory items at once using bulk actions. This saves time when reorganizing inventory and makes high-volume location updates much more efficient.

​Improved Inventory Product Search with Product Codes

Inventory products can now be searched using product codes, and product codes are displayed more prominently throughout the interface. This helps users find the correct products faster and reduces ambiguity during selection.

​Average Widget in the Form Builder

The Form Builder now includes an Average widget, allowing teams to calculate average values directly within forms. This expands the available calculation tools for quality, compliance, and operational workflows.

Verified and Locked Status Pills for PO and SO Records

Records linked to Purchase Orders and Shipping Orders now display clearer status pills, including verified and locked states. This makes it easier to understand record progress and status at a glance.

​Repeatable Section Descriptions

Repeatable sections and tables in forms now support descriptions more consistently, improving clarity for users completing structured records.

​Inventory List Display Improvements

Inventory lists now show the inventory name more prominently, with the product name displayed separately for better clarity. This makes inventory records easier to identify in day-to-day workflows.

The Printers page now includes direct download links for Giraffe, making it easier to access the correct installer for your operating system.
